ardex-logo.jpgPrior to opening for the 2009 season, the Market Square Pizza Pasta restaurant at Chessington World of Adventures & Zoo has enjoyed a complete refurbishment, with floors being installed by ARDEX UK in partnership with R. Fordham Flooring of Shoeburyness and Swan Construct of Leigh on Sea, Essex.

Chessington World of Adventures & Zoo is the south's number one Theme Park and Animal Attraction, with millions of visitors making their way through the gates each year. Market Square is the central area of the park and home to shops, video arcades and food stalls. As its name suggests the area was originally designed to resemble a traditional English market square, complete with a gateway themed as a castle, a water wheel and the new courtyard restaurant, Market Square Pizza Pasta.

To commence the project, parts of the 300m2 floor received ARDEX DPM 1 C One Coat Surface Damp Proof Membrane, which has been significantly proven throughout many commercial installations to deliver rapid and costs effective results. Developed for use as a one coat system, ARDEX DPM 1 C provides a membrane with high inherent strength and an excellent bond. It is easy to apply, fast curing and can accommodate Hygrometer readings up to 98% RH.

The cured DPM then received a levelling layer of ARDITEX RS PLUS latex smoothing compound. ARDITEX RS PLUS is ideal for virtually all commercial and domestic locations, and its exceptional performance and ease of use qualities remain unsurpassed within the flooring industry.

Prior to receipt of final floorcoverings, the remaining floors were prepared with multi-award winning ARDITEX NA, the industry benchmark for low odour latex smoothing compounds. Consistently selected by flooring professionals’ as their preferred choice, ARDITEX NA allows floorcoverings to be applied after just 4 hours.  It is also suitable for use on most substrates and can be laid from a feather edge up to at least 12mm in a single application. Thicknesses up to 30mm are also possible when ARDEX Aggregate is incorporated into the mix. Excellent properties of adhesion and flexibility are assured with ARDITEX NA, making it ideal for levelling concrete, cement/sand screeds, flooring grade asphalt and quarry tiles. ARDITEX NA can also be used over old adhesive residues as well as on steel decks because it has been approved for offshore marine use.

Commenting on the installation, Richard Fordham said, “My clients rely upon me to install floors that are of the highest quality, cost efficient and meet the demands of each specific environment. By using ARDEX I have total peace of mind on all fronts – assured premium quality, proven reliability and efficiency”.
