Bentley Prince Street, Inc., a leading manufacturer of stylish floorcoverings for nearly three decades, have launched two new styles – Distinctive Ikat™ and Vivid Ombre™ – that deliver new possibilities in the use of solution dyed colors in carpet design. Both styles are available in broadloom as well as 18in X 18in and 36in x 36in carpet tile.
Distinctive Ikat and Vivid Ombre marry new construction techniques with solution dyed color, yielding an ombre effect that creates a sense of illusion within each of the patterns. With a multi-dimensional use of color and shading, shadow and scale expand to create a feeling of volume that is all encompassing, whether horizontal or vertical.
The creative process started with a series of studies in natural ombre techniques through various carpet constructions. Through this experimentation, Bentley Prince Street’s Design Studio explored intricate ways to visualize solution dyed color within each of the patterns. This new process resulted in color, shadows and textures that are exquisitely unique.
“Capturing natural effects with solution dyed colors is a true success in both of these patterns,” explained Valerie Ottaviano, vice president of design for Bentley Prince Street. “The ability to create visual illusions with solution dyed colors can be challenging. However, what we’ve seen with Distinctive Ikat and Vivid Ombre has opened up a whole new frontier in how we view solution dyed colors and what they can achieve.”
Distinctive Ikat and Vivid Ombre are manufactured with Antron® Lumena 6,6 nylon, providing unsurpassed stain resistance and cleanability while maintaining colorfastness and antistatic protection consistent with Bentley Prince Street’s industry leading warranty. Addressing segments such as higher education and healthcare, these products are installed standard with High PerfomancePC™ backing, which contains a minimum average 10% post-consumer recycled content, or with NexStep® Cushion Tile.
All Bentley Prince Street standard broadloom and carpet tile products have achieved Sustainable Choice™ Gold certification, as certified by Scientific Certification Systems, an independent, third-party certifier of environmental claims.
