Johnsonite® introduces Ecolibrium Wall Base, a new advancement in sustainable resilient flooring solutions
New High-Performance Solution for Sustainability Features a Unique Blend of Rapidly Renewable Materials Along with Post-Consumer Recycled Content.Further addressing its commitment to innovation in sustainable product development, Johnsonite®, a Tarkett company and provider of the world’s most integrated high-performance flooring system, introduced today its newest solution for sustainability in rubber flooring, Ecolibrium rubber wall base.
Johnsonite’s Ecolibrium Wall Base is manufactured with a pioneering compound that balances a variety of sustainability objectives. The proprietary patent-pending compound within Ecolibrium Wall Base combines rubber, olefin and natural filler – walnut and oyster shells – and is a significant innovation in the flooring industry. The Ecolibrium Wall Base contains over five percent of its total weight in rapidly renewable materials along with pre-consumer recycled content. The walnut shell dust and oyster shells reduce the amount of necessary fillers and colorants in the products. Ecolibrium is FloorScore certified.
Ecolibrium Wall Base is flexible for ease of installation, coordinates with all Johnsonite system solutions and can be installed with the current Johnsonite adhesive system. It has a smooth surface finish and is available in the 32 standard ColorMatch colors, which are offered across all Johnsonite rubber tiles, treads and finished accessories. As with all Johnsonite Extruded solutions, Ecolibrium Wall Base has no dye lots, guaranteeing exact color match.
As a North American leader in sustainable flooring, Tarkett and its Johnsonite company consider all aspects of sustainability, including rapidly renewable materials, resource stewardship, recycling and people-friendly spaces. The Ecolibrium Wall Base will be featured in the Johnsonite booth (8-4080) during the NeoCon® World’s Trade Fair 2010, June 14-16 in Chicago.
Like all Johnsonite solutions, Ecolibrium Wall Base helps contribute toward obtaining Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) points in several categories. These products offer environmental compatibility, safety and productivity benefits, as well as a significant return on investment. Ecolibrium Wall Base demonstrates Tarkett’s commitment to creating solutions that minimize resources and energy consumed by alternate materials. In 2009, Tarkett recycled approximately 19 million pounds of material and aims to double that number in 2010. Through the development of products like the Ecolibrium Wall Base, its ongoing use of recycled and alternative renewable materials, Tarkett is addressing long-term sustainable issues to ensure ongoing improvement that meets current and future market needs.
