TAP specializes in the production of bubble film and bubble mailers, and already holds a substantial share of the western European market. It was the first company in the world to produce bubble mailers without using any medium (PE coating, adhesive, etc.) between the paper and the bubble film. This production process ensures easy separation of film and paper and compliance with packaging waste regulations in Europe that require materials to be separated for recycling.
"We are pleased to announce this acquisition, which is our first step into the European market," says Jan Willem Wieringa, general manager, ProtecPac, adding, "TAP fit our criteria perfectly: First of all they have a good position in their local market; and secondly, they have a unique manufacturing method for bubble mailers, which will also help our expansion in North America."
TAP was founded in 1972 and now employs more than 80 people. As part of ProtecPac, it will retain both its name and management team led by General Manager Peter-Michael Waurich. In addition to the German facility, ProtecPac operates three manufacturing facilities in Canada, in the Montreal and Toronto areas, and one in Ohio, USA. The latter opened in 2005.
ProtecPac, a division of Montreal-based Induspac, offers a wide variety of protective packaging materials including polyethylene foam, air bubble cushioning, mailers, cohesive materials, laminated products, and single-faced corrugated. Protective packaging materials provide surface protection, cushioning, blocking and bracing, or void fill during storage and transit. ProtecPac's building products are used in both new buildings and remodeling projects and include underlayment for laminate flooring and foam sill plate gasket materials.
