Celebrating the best in construction innovation, this year’s Interbuild ‘Best at Show’ Product Awards were a huge success, with four winners being announced in three show categories: Interbuild Onsite, Interbuild Specifier and Glassex@Interbuild.
In the Interbuild Onsite category, Judge Robin Hood-Leeder, Director of Membership Services at The Federation of Master Builders was so impressed with the high quality of the exhibitors’ products that he announced both a winner and a runner-up.
Walking away with the first prize was Sure Stop for its pioneering Water Switch. Mr Hood-Leeder commented on the winning product: “With today’s concerns about energy, sustainability and the conservation of water, this product makes a valuable contribution by giving households the ability to quickly and easily shut off their water supplies on emergencies and for maintenance purposes. Water Switch can be utilised by a diverse audience and could have a great impact on the marketplace.”
Noel O’Donnell, Sales and Marketing Director, Sure Stop Ltd, said: “Winning an award like this is fantastic for a smaller company like Sure Stop as we don’t have big marketing budgets. The recognition and awareness that winning this award will bring is extremely helpful to us and we are delighted to have won.”
Sortimo narrowly missed out on the winner’s award and was announced as close runner up for its Sortimo Racking System. The judge particularly liked the interlocking tool cases which are fully integrated into the vehicle’s racking system and said that this was a significant development for the safe and secure storage of tools.
Taking home the top prize in the Glassex@Interbuild category was conservatory specialist, Ultraframe, for its ‘Lean-to’ Veranda Conservatory product. Judge Alan Fielder, Director of Sales and Marketing at Edgetech, was particularly impressed with the attractive look of this innovative concept.
Mark Hanson, Marketing Manager for Ultraframe said: "This is a product that has gone down particularly well with the retail installation companies that we’ve seen in hoards at Glassex and I’m sure this special award will now help drive awareness elsewhere in the market place."
The third category award of the day went to Flowcrete in the Interbuild Specifier section for its wide range of products that are addressing the need for a more sustainable built environment. Judge Michael Ankers OBE, Chief Executive of the Construction Products Association commented: “Flowcrete is worthy winner of this award, bringing innovation in both product and process to Interbuild Specifier 2009.”
Nick Page, Isowarm Specification Manager at Flowcrete UK Ltd, commented on winning the award: “We are extremely pleased to receive the Interbuild Specifier ‘Best at Show’ Award for our complete flooring systems. It’s nice to see that people recognise the benefit of a complete system from a single supplier and I’m sure after our success this year we’ll be back!”
David Pierpoint, Event Director, concludes: “In these difficult times it’s always great to see manufacturers still focusing their efforts on developing the new technologies and innovations that will drive the future of the built environment. This is why we created the Best at Show Product Awards, to celebrate these amazing and inspiring achievements.”
Established since 1895, Interbuild is the UK’s most comprehensive event on the construction calendar.
