Publishing Tips - Using the Editor

We provide you with one of the most advanced online editors for publishing your content.

If you are familiar with Microsoft Word you will will find it easy to get to grips with CFM's editor which has extra special features.

If in any doubt, simply hit the editor help button which will reveal a pop up window containing an explanation of each function.

The Editor Functions

The editor buttons will depend on your membership profile permission which by default is that of Flooring Trade Member With Author Status. As an author you can publish text-only articles to the available categories.

Your published content should have lead-in intro text at the head of the article, and the main body text.

Intro Text

Simply start typing the first paragraph or paste some text into the editor. If it is one paragraph only, select the formatting tab, the paragraph attribute.

Important
MS Word contains a lot of formatting classes and styling that is not 'Browser Friendly'. If you are pasting from MS Word, select Past button and past it into the pop up window, this will remove all non compliant MS coding. It will not effect your published article output.

The purpose of this is to allow the Lead-in Intro Text to lead on to the full text. You do not have to use this function, you can simply create full text articles, with Pagebreaks if you wish.

Page Breaks

If your article is exceptionally long, you can insert a page break at the end of a paragraph.  Simply place the cursor  after the last sentence and then hit the 'Pagebreak' button situated at the bottom of the editor. You will be presented with a popup window to enter some info.

You can repeat this operation to create shorter pages for easier viewing with an article titled index for easy navigation. Just like some of the articles you can see throughout this website.

Important

If you are satisfied with your content, click the 'Save' button.

If you wish to cancel or want to select another category, click the 'Cancel' button.

Your membership Type

Membership Author - You can publish text-only items to any of the listed categories. If you wish to upgrade to Author Plus you will be able to add photos to your news. Charges apply, please see the membership plans.

Membership Author Plus - You can publish text-only items to any of the listed categories. In addition you will have a private photo folder created for you automatically the first time you use the photo upload feature.
